Prompt: Gelid
Meshed with bits of snow and dirt, the wind blew cold and fast. One could see their breath in the air as they strode down the streets of The Brume. Foundation had been plagued by a powerful blizzard. Small children-built snow folk, threw snowballs at passersby and laughed like only they could. The elderly trudged along the scaffolding, just trying to stay warm in their tattered clothes. Templars stood guard around each corner, more so here. The gelid air was nearly too much for anyone to bear, even the locals of this cold city.
A tiny hyur woman, bundled up in an overly large black and tan coat stepped out from one of the estates in the noble quarter. She shoved her hands into two cozy mittens and placed her brown wool cap on her head. Her hair was tied into a ponytail, long as it was, to keep it from flying into her face from the breeze. She kicked the heel of her boots on the lip of the door she just exited. Obviously she had a purpose for going out even with the beginnings of a blizzard underway. Just as she stepped out into the yard, she felt her feet sink as she landed in the deep snow. Uncomfortable, yes, but not enough to make her head back inside.
Magnus would be displeased to see Zavanis trudging outside, willingly offering herself up to a serious cold that was sure to come from this trip. But she continued onwards. Hurrying through the front yard and past the two Cirillium guards she waved them goodbye. This was only one of many secret trips she took outside the estate. The guards would chuckle, having grown fond of her ‘sneaky’ ways. They had silently agreed to let her wonder as long as Lord Cirillium didn’t know it was under their watch.
Trying her best not to slide on the wet cobblestone pathways she rushed to the edge of the noble quarter. Slowing down then stopping just before turning the next corner she composed herself, she didn’t want to look suspicious. Her feet turned the bend and several sets of eyes turned towards her. The next hurdle of her journey was the guard station. Act cool and nothing bad will happen, at least that's what she hoped for. The chilled armored guards sat upright at the sound of feet hitting the cobble. Their gaze piercing through her body if they could. She gave a weak smile from underneath her scarf. Their posture loosened as they realized it was just that woman. As fast as she could but also as natural as possible she walked through the checkpoint. They had come to expect weird encounters with this woman, ever since the first day she passed with the young lord guiding her they knew she was an odd one. Her breathing seemed to halt momentarily as she made her way through, it was incredibly awkward each time she had to do this.
Finally she made it by and hurried along the pathways. Thank the gods, she just had to do that one more time today and hopefully she wouldn’t get caught on her way back by Magnus.
